Ranks & permissions

ARCbots has its own rank ladder, separate from xat's: Guest (0) → Member (1) → Moderator (2) → Owner (3) → Main Owner (4) → Bot Owner (5). This guide covers giving people rank, temporary ranks, and controlling who can use which commands.

Give someone rank

  • !mod <user>, !owner <user>, !member <user> — set a permanent rank.
  • !guest <user> — remove rank.
  • !cmod <user> <level> — set someone's ARCbot mod level directly (e.g. !cmod Sam 4); !removemod <user> removes it.

Temporary ranks

Grant rank that expires on its own:

  • !tempmoderator <user> / !tempowner <user> / !tempmember <user> — a one-off temporary rank.
  • Auto-temp — automatically give a chosen user a temporary rank whenever they're in the room. Use the Auto-Temp manager or !autotemp add [member|mod|owner] <user> <hours> (1–24h); remove with !autotemp delete <user>. !autotemp activity on only grants the rank when all your staff have been idle a few minutes (handy for cover).

Who can use which commands

The Minimum Ranks manager is the easiest way — set a minimum rank for the whole bot, or per command, mark a command PC/PM-only, or disable it. From chat:

  • !minrank <rank> — minimum rank to use any command (e.g. !minrank member).
  • !minrankcmd <0-5> <command> — minimum rank for specific command(s).
  • !blockcommand <command> — disable a command (!uncommandblock re-enables it); !privatecommand add <command> forces it to private only.

To see what rank changed when, use rank logs.
