Before an ARCbot can join, xat requires the (bot) power to be assigned to your chat group. This guide is the short version of connecting a bot — for the full walkthrough (registering, the setup wizard, the dashboard) see the getting-started tutorial.

What you need first

  • The (bot) power — buy it from the xat powers store or a trade chat. One bot per chat at a time (the gamebot is the exception).
  • Owner / main owner access to the chat group (you'll need the group's edit password).
  • An ARCbots account with a bot created and some bot time on it.

1. Assign the (bot) power to your chat

  1. Type (bot) in main chat and click the power smiley, then click Assign.
  2. Open Edit Your Chat → Extra Features.
  3. Find the bot power, tick its checkbox to activate it, then click Edit on the right.
  4. In the window, enter 1510151 in the bot id field. Leave the appbot field blank.
  5. Click OK, scroll down and click Update Settings.

The ARCbot's bot id is always 1510151. The appbot field stays empty.

2. Start the bot

On your panel dashboard, press the green Start button under your botid. The bot can take up to two minutes to join, and any errors are shown after you press start.

3. Confirm the bot (the 2-minute window)

When the bot enters your chat, an owner or main owner must confirm it within ~2 minutes (120 seconds) or it leaves again:

  • In chat, run !confirmbot (older note: ~1 minute — don't wait around, confirm as soon as it joins).
  • Miss the window? Just restart the bot from the dashboard and confirm again.

Moving the bot to a different chat

Assign the (bot) power at the target chat first (bot id 1510151). Then, in the panel, change the bot's assigned chatroom under Edit Bot Settings → Chat / Language settings and restart the bot so it joins the new chat.

It won't stay connected?

If the bot joins for a few seconds then leaves, or you see "k1 value empty, login fail", check it still has bot time and that the (bot) power is assigned with id 1510151, then restart it. ARCbots manages the bot's xat login — there's nothing for you to enter. More in troubleshooting common errors.
